Hey people of Hope,
I ran extra fast this morning trying to break a time barrier on my 6 mile route. It was strenuous and I couldn’t wait to hit the button on my timer to see my time. When I crossed the line something went wrong when I hit the button - I reset the timer to 00:00. My neighbors heard, “Nnnnnnnnnnooooooooooooooo!!!!” as I fell to my knees and sobbed uncontrollably. Have you ever poured a ton of effort into something and have it add up to zero? That’s the way it will be for a lot of people in our world who thought religion or good deeds will get them something with God. They’ll discover that God simply wanted you to trust what He did for you through Jesus rather than what you did for Him. “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9) Even as believers we need to constantly ask ourselves, “Why should I serve and sacrifice for Him?” To get something? No, because we already have something…we have Him and He’s worth everything.

PRAYER & PRAISE - Wednesday, November 22nd
I’d like you to band together as a church family and pray with me for God to do His work in and through our church. This is one of those things that people don’t feel like doing but is absolutely necessary for us to express our dependence on God and tell Him we want Him to do His work in the hearts of people - for His great name’s sake. We do this four times a year…..will you pray with me? Childcare is available.
Make plans to attend one of the showings of the Christmas play this year; 7:00 pm December 8th or 7:00 pm December 9th
DR. FRANK TUREK AT HOPE – February 24th & 25th
Have you ever thought through why you believe what you believe?
Why should we believe in the existence of God?
Why should we believe the Bible is God’s word?
Why should we believe Jesus is alive and the only way?
God made us reasoning people and He never calls us to suspend reason when we come to Him. Author and speaker Dr. Frank Turek will be at our church on the evening of Saturday, February 24th and Sunday, the 25th to share some great information and a time of Q&A. Dr. Turek co-authored the book, I Don’t Have Enough Faith To Be an Atheist with Dr. Norman Geisler and has debated a number of atheists including Christopher Hitchens before he died. This will be an event that not only I don’t want you to miss but I guarantee you won’t want to miss. This will also be a once in a lifetime opportunity for you to reach out to and invite that skeptical family member or friend.
See you soon,
