Hey Hope people!
With family in town this past week, I had a chance to visit the Mount Saint Helens observatory and refresh my memory about the event that transpired back in 1980. It’s almost too hard to comprehend the kind of power that blew half of that mountain apart…..the kind of power that stirs beneath the surface of the earth even now hidden from our sight as molten rock expands and builds pressure. There’s another power patiently waiting for people to respond to his offer of mercy through the death and resurrection of the God-Man, Jesus. He is the one who brought the entire universe into existence with a spoken word and when it’s time for Him to judge, there’s no escape from his power for those who refuse Him.  An oracle is within my heart concerning the sinfulness of the wicked: There is no fear of God before his eyes. For in his own eyes he flatters himself too much to detect or hate his sin. (Psalm 36:1-2) The world is full of people who think they’re so clever that they can smugly dismiss God and refuse to call their wicked behavior what it is.  Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous. For the LORD watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish. (Psalm 1:5-6) Who can stand up against the true, living God and win?!! Taking into account the great power of God and His patience with this world, we should be just as patient with those around us who are lost.
JEFF SPEAKING – Sunday
Leslie and I have taken some special time with family in town this week. I’ll probably see you Sunday but in a different capacity.
MEN’S FISHING TRIP – June 9th (One spot left)
We get the boat to ourselves so join me and some other men on a charter out of Westport. The cost is $155 and includes the boat, tackle, gear and fishing license. They even bait the hooks and fillet the fish you catch. You can register online at our website or write a check and put it in one of the collection boxes with “fishing trip” in the memo. Email Jeff if you have any questions;
Come celebrate the 10 years of service Robb Wright has given as the Director of Youth along with his wife Holly. There will be a potluck lunch and celebration after the 2nd service on June 10th in our auditorium so bring some food and let’s honor their service.
BAPTISMS – June 24th
We’ll have some baptisms on June 24th during the 2nd service. Baptism is for people who have personally decided to trust Jesus to forgive their sins. Baptism is a command of God for believers and is a way for them to profess their faith publicly. Please let me know if you’re willing to be baptized.
YOUTH GAME NIGHT – Hang out with Elliott June 27th
For middle and high school youth - there’s a great opportunity to hang out and get to know our new youth pastor, Elliott Fulton, on Wednesday, June 27th at 7:00 pm here at the church. Please pass on the word.
We need to collect 250 plastic 1 gallon water or milk jugs for our Kidz Camp this summer. The milk jugs should be washed with soap and water before being donated and there will be a box in the Kidz Wing to place them.
Also, don’t forget to register your kids for the camp. You can use the following link to register; or you can stop by the table in the lobby this Sunday for more information.
See you soon!
