People of Hope!
I was wandering through a garden center a few years ago and I saw a little 2-foot-long stick for sale with a tag on it that said “Bing Cherry Tree”. I looked at that little stick and began to imagine eating ripe cherries from a burgeoning tree in my very own yard….even walking into my house with cherries in my hands and a big smile saying, “Leslie! Look at this!”
Well, it happened this week! Sweet bing cherries! Only a bag full but, hey, I only had a stick a few years ago. God asks us to do the same thing with our lives. We’re told in Galatians 5:22-23 that when we allow His Spirit to have His way in our lives, the following happens, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” You start with the Holy Spirit planted in your life and over time He produces fruit in your character. We also find Paul commenting on what happened in the city of Colossae in Colossians 1:6-7, “All over the world this gospel is bearing fruit and growing, just as it has been doing among you since the day you heard it and understood God’s grace in all its truth. You learned it from Epaphras….” In other words, Epaphras took the initiative to share about Jesus in the city of Colossae and years later the fruit of many believers changed by Jesus could be seen. Both the fruit of changed character and the fruit of more believers can be the result of you and I having a vision that starts with some small decisions that are planted and nurtured over time.
I GOOFED! – Kidz Summer Camp link
The link I’ve provided to sign up for the Kidz Summer Camp was wrong. Again, I know it’s a mind-blower to imagine me doing something wrong - especially on such a grand scale as this. But here’s the correct link you can use to register your kids for camp; https://hopefellowship.breezechms.com/form/kidssummercamp18
Keep inviting your friends, the number of kids signing up is climbing. What a fantastic opportunity to reach our network of friends here at Hope for Jesus!
I’ll continue the current series in the book of Ephesians with a message titled “Evidence of God in your life”
Due to the main event this Sunday you will notice the left entrance to the building will not be available to drive through so just go around the other way. If parking runs out there will be an overflow parking lot in the back left corner.
PIG ROAST – This Sunday
Looks like a perfect day for a picnic! Make plans to hang out after the 2nd service. A whole pig will be roasted overnight for your dining pleasure. We need you to bring either a dessert or side dish to share, just bring it into the kitchen and it will be set out when the time comes. There will also be a fast food line (hot dogs). You’ll be able to sit under a huge tent while the blowup slide and bouncy house are available for the kids.  There will be some games, a pie eating contest and……the candy cannon will fire candy for your everlasting delight. What’s the purpose of this event? To have some fun together and make it easy for you to invite a friend to hang out with us.
A reminder for those of you planning to run the B&O half marathon with me on July 21st, there’s still time to get up to speed if you’ve been slacking! If you haven’t let me know you’re planning on it yet, let me know.
See you Sunday!
