Hey Hope people!
On our way back from Portland Monday, we stopped for gas and Leslie went into the store to buy me a cherry pie. Evidently the dignified shop owner couldn’t hold his bladder any longer and shot out from behind the counter, agitated, waving his arms and saying out loud, “I have to pee! I have to pee!” Caught by surprise holding my cherry pie Leslie said, “Ummm. …..ok?” He said, “You must leave! I must lock the door!” Leslie scooted out while he quickly locked the door and disappeared into the side restroom leaving her standing in front of the door looking at me like we were suddenly in the Twilight Zone. There are many things that light a fire under us as we live this life, aren’t there? What should give people a sense of urgency when they examine their lives? The issue of harmony with God should evoke a panic response if someone isn’t right with Him. When Peter spoke to a very large crowd in Jerusalem after the death and resurrection of Jesus he said, “Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ.” When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?” (Acts 2:36–37) When they suddenly realized they weren’t right with the Lord of the universe they panicked….. and rightly so. I’ve observed believers who have put God on the back burner for years suddenly panic when they realized their poor priorities were destroying themselves and their family. There’s a sense of urgency that must be there when it comes to the things of God. I trust you’re responding properly to him, if not, it’s time to lock up the store, run outside and take care of business!! Right now!!
FATHERS DAY - Sunday
We usually hand out flowers to all the women on Mother’s Day and rarely give the men something special on Father’s Day. Things will be different this Sunday. Men, I believe you will be pleasantly surprised as you hold in your hands something that until now has only been the stuff of dreams.
FULTONS MOVING IN – June 23rd
Elliott and Nicole are moving into their residence on Saturday, June 23rd in the afternoon. If you’d like to help the Fultons unload their U-Haul or have questions related to their move contact Jeff; email@example.com
BAPTISMS – June 24th
We’ll have baptisms on June 24th during the 2nd service. Baptism is for people who have personally decided to trust Jesus to forgive their sins. Baptism is a command of God for believers and is a way for them to profess their faith publicly. Please let me know if you’re willing to be baptized.
YOUTH GAME NIGHT – Hang out with Elliott June 27th
For middle and high school youth - there’s a great opportunity to hang out and get to know our new youth pastor, Elliott Fulton, on Wednesday, June 27th at 7:00 pm here at the church. Please pass on the word.
PIG ROAST AND WIDESPREAD FUN – July 1st
Make plans to hang out after the 2nd service on July 1st for a lot of great food and general fun….and definitely invite folks you’re reaching out to. A whole pig will be roasted overnight, and you will bring a traditional pot luck side dish. There will also be a fast food line (hot dogs). You’ll be able to sit under a huge tent while the blowup slide and bouncy house thrills the kids. The candy cannon will be firing candy and a pie eating contest will take place with yours truly ultimately being declared the winner (as long as it’s cherry pie).
ONE GALLON PLASTIC JUGS STILL NEEDED
We still need to collect 250 plastic 1 gallon water or milk jugs for our Kidz Camp this summer. The milk jugs should be washed with soap and water before being donated and there will be a box in the Kidz Wing to place them.
Also, don’t forget to register your kids for the camp. You can use the following link to register; https://hopefellowship.breezechms.com/form/KSC2018 or you can stop by the table in the lobby this Sunday for more information.
See you Sunday!
