People of Hope!

The church got a Facebook message last night from one of our neighbors who was a little upset that fireworks were going off on our church property. Being under the assumption that the fireworks display was a church event she was as polite as possible but understandably irritated. I assured her that those fireworks were being lit by people who used our property without permission. Could you imagine the impression Hope would leave if we organized an event involving fireworks right beside a sign on the main road reminding folks that fireworks were banned? I’m glad she contacted us! Has someone else’s actions ever reflected poorly on your character? Keep in mind that the Lord’s reputation is tied with your actions also. The inspired words of the apostle Peter seem to address this, “Dear friends, I urge you, as aliens and strangers in the world, to abstain from sinful desires, which war against your soul. Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.”(1 Peter 2:11-12) I trust that you’re ever mindful that the Lord’s reputation is associated with you before you start blowing stuff up!

KIDZ SUMMER CAMP – A week and a half away!
A bunch of kids are signed up and we’re looking forward to many more.
Keep inviting your friends….. what a fantastic opportunity to reach our network of friends here at Hope for Jesus!  https://hopefellowship.breezechms.com/form/kidssummercamp18

SUNDAY
I’ll continue the current series in the book of Ephesians with a message titled “Steps to Knowing God Better”

YOUTH BOWLING

The youth will be bowling next Wednesday (the 11th) at Kent Bowl from 7:00-9:00 pm. Have them bring $15.00 and meet Elliott at the bowling alley. This would be a great time to invite a friend.

PIG ROAST – Thanks
What a great time it was to meet folks, hang out and have fun last Sunday afternoon. Jeff did a great job organizing this and a special thanks goes to those volunteers who made it happen; the pig roast team that stayed up all night and roasted that pig to perfection, the food server folks managed things excellently and the set up/tear down folks who put in a lot of work.

See you Sunday!
Ben
