Hey people of Hope,
I recently got (in my opinion) a great pair of shoes at the Goodwill store. The only downside is the “clickity - clackity” noise the hard soles make when I walk on cement or tile. I feel like Mr. Bojangles tap dancing a happy dance and I catch myself trying to soft-step it to avoid becoming a spectacle in public. How are you with drawing attention to yourself? Some people LOVE it…. but Liberaces are rare and most of us would rather not be obnoxious in public. If we’re honest, all of us do like a certain degree of attention…. People at least like to be noticed when the church meets which is the number one reason people drift out of churches – a perceived lack of sincere personal contact. Sometimes people give off a “don’t bug me” tude - but don’t you believe it for one second! …..they like to be bugged (a little). There are at least two reasons for you to make a habit out of church: 1) So you can bug people and; 2) So you can be bugged. “Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” (Hebrews 10:25) “He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him. Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.” (1Thessalonians 5:10-11) This Sunday, bug someone (at least a little) and I’ll promise not to tap dance.
Ladies! Jump in on the Annual Ladies Christmas Gift Exchange with an optional Cookie Swap this Saturday from 9:30-11:30! Bring a wrapped gift costing between $10-$15 and one of your favorite brunch dishes to share. You DO NOT have to participate in the cookie exchange to attend. It is an added bonus…..but if you plan to do the cookie swap there are specific instructions at the information desk in the church lobby. Invite a friend!! Childcare is provided for this event.
We’ll have only one morning service at 9:00 am and two Christmas Eve services; One at 4:00 pm and one at 6:00 pm. The morning service will feel similar to our normal Sunday services while the evening will be focused more on a special candlelight experience. I would highly encourage you to invite someone to join you on Christmas Eve, especially for an evening service. Lots of singing and a clear focus on God’s love for us by sending Jesus.
All the food will be provided for the Senior Lunch next Wednesday at 12:30. Come on out and relax, enjoy conversation and sing a little with Christmas on the horizon.
See you soon,
