People of Hope!
Every now and then, I have the unfortunate pleasure of looking at some of the things posted on one of the community Facebook pages……brutal man brutal! The snarky comments, innuendos and aggressive remarks would be shocking were it not for the fact that those kinds of responses run through everyone’s mind sometimes. As believers, we’re called not to destroy other people with our communication either through our mouth, pen or keyboard.  “And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. (Colossians 3:17) We don’t have to be nasty, snarky or anything else the rest of the world feels like they need to be. We represent someone who paid a great price for us and we want others to know Him too, let’s always be mindful of that as we interact with each other and the world around us.
I look forward to seeing you Sunday as we continue in the current series in the book of Ephesians with a message called “Growing up together”
NEWCOMERS LUNCH – Sunday
Join us for lunch after the 2nd service on August 12th for lunch and discussion about the church. If you’re new or interested in membership this is the class for you. It’s approximately and hour long and includes lunch and childcare. Email Jeff if you’re planning to attend;
RIVER BAPTISMS – Sunday
Please come and share in the joy of a few river baptisms on Sunday afternoon of August 12th at 2:30. The baptisms will take place at Fred Habenicht park just below the Testy Chef restaurant in Maple Valley. If you haven’t been baptized (immersed in water) and would like to have that done in the great outdoors, let me know….there’s still time.
A great to beat the summer heat by playing kickball and sliding into water filled kiddie pool bases. Bring a friend or two on Wednesday, August 15th starting at 6:00. Contact Elliott with questions;
Invite some friends to hang out at Flaming Geyser State Park for some food, fun and a chillaxing float down the river. Meet at Hope on Saturday, August 18th at 1:00. Contact Elliott with questions;
There are certain days every year that are set aside for us to set aside our food and possibly water and let Him know that we’re helpless to accomplish what He wants without His power at work here at Hope Fellowship. I’d like you to join me on August 30th here at 6:30 for such a time together. We’ll sing, praise Him and pray as we call on God together. Child care will be available.
WOMEN’S RETREAT – September 28-30th
In many churches people feel disconnected for two reasons; 1) Often people who need to be connected are afraid to take a step like this to get connected and 2) Many times people who are connected don’t care enough for others to take primo opportunities like this to be available for the unconnected. What a great time to get away from it all, meet some other ladies and develop some friendships as you learn about how much you’re treasured by God. As usual there will be some great activities to enjoy. A brochure is available at the information desk in the lobby and you can contact Leslie with any questions;
See you Sunday!
