Hey people of Hope!
I ran into someone I recognized recently at the grocery store who looked at me as I looked at him and we both smiled and greeted each other warmly. As we were asking each other how things were going, Leslie joined in and did the same. After we parted, Leslie asked me who he was and I said, “I’m not sure but he sure was friendly!” It was almost a week later when I suddenly blurted out in the middle of an unrelated conversation with Leslie, “It was the eye doctor!!” She looked at me like I was from Mars. At the time, I guarantee the eye doctor couldn’t remember me either. Have you ever noticed your drive for resolve? Whatever needs resolution will continually poke at you until it’s resolved properly. That’s why there are certain negative psychological repercussions when some things aren’t resolved correctly. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:4-7)
No resolve = anxiety! Placing God at the center = peace!
– The Mercy of God

If you’d truly like to experience the community that a small church provides……you need a small group. You get to meet with 6 to 14 other people each week who will know you and who you can know. Support, Bible, prayer and possibly food will be regular parts of your experience. Some new groups will be kicking off this fall so let Jeff know you’d like to jump in;

An invitation mailer is arriving in homes as we speak. I’ll begin a message series on September 10th called “Building Good Relationships” that would provide a great opportunity to invite someone you may be praying for and reaching out to.
KICKOFF SUNDAY – September 10
Our kickoff Sunday will be an exciting time to focus on a new start this fall. After the 2nd service there will be FREE FOOD with a SNOW CONE machine and a POPCORN machine balancing out a nutritional diet. We’ll have a BLOW-UP SLIDE and BOUNCY HOUSE for the kids. There will be MINISTRY DISPLAYS in the lobby showing many of the opportunities to plug in here at Hope. The FOOTBALL GAME will also be on the big screen in the auditorium. It may be good to bring a lawn chair and if you’d like to bring a desert, please do!
BAPTISMS – September 17th
Baptism is something God asks all believers to do. Baptism is immersion in water and is only for people who have made a personal decision to receive Jesus for themselves (not babies). If you’ve decided to follow Jesus and haven’t been baptized, let me know and we’ll talk about it.
This class will take place during the 3rd service and starts on September 17th. Cost is $100 per couple and scholarships are available. For online registration; . If you have any questions, contact Jeff;

Separate men’s and women’s recovery groups will kickoff on September 18th. Whatever the issue you may be facing these groups will provide the perspective, accountability and encouragement you need to find the victory you’re looking for. For more information, contact the men’s leader, Mark Hampton at or the women’s leader, Eileen Vreeburg at
There is a paid opportunity to oversee childcare on Tuesday nights starting September 19th. If you would like to be considered for this, please contact Lisa Wood at
Our church is scheduled to bring meals to serve homeless men from September 1st to September 7th and begins this week. If you’d like to help, contact Donna Drury at

In case you didn’t know, there’s a great place for young adults to connect here at Hope, a group meets on Tuesday nights at 7:00 in the big portable.  A perspective on Biblical dating will begin on September 12th for five weeks taught by Terren and Amanda Musselwhite.
