Hey people of Hope!
Leslie and I backpacked an overnighter to Echo Lake last Thursday and part of Friday. We didn’t see a single person on the trail and had the entire camping area and lake to ourselves….it was wonderful. It warmed up a little out there and, when I got comfortable with the fact that there would likely be no other humans joining the party, I decided to wade the shoreline in my favorite manta ray underwear. Yep, just my wife, the ducks and my manta ray undies…..and the Sasquatch I heard scream-laugh when he saw those underwear. You may have noticed that it’s mostly peaceful but also a little freaky when you’re alone in the middle of nowhere. There’s a feeling of vulnerability that eats at you a little when you’re in a bright orange tent alone in the deep woods. I bet Adam never felt vulnerable…..EVER! Before Adam plunged the human race into sin, fear was never part of his experience in the wonderful environment God had him in. Could you imagine a world without fear? The presence of God is the answer to fear, “So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?” (Hebrews 13:6) We have the seed of a life without fear living in us right now through the Holy Spirit and we can start a journey of recovery from our fears, but not until Jesus returns and all things are made new will fear no longer be an issue. In the meantime, I’ll try to sleep in my tent with one eye open.

As I continue the message series called, Lessons From Sodom and Gomorrah we’ll take a look this week at “The Concept of Judgment”
