Hey Hope people!
Through the years shark week has proven to be entertaining…. especially when the shark experts make a case for how sharks don’t really want to hurt humans.  One year they showed how a 19-foot great white slammed a surfer and started to drag her down.  After she survived the attack, those who examined her concluded the shark was gently sampling her and when it realized she was human it let her go…... Awwwwww…. how nice.  Call me cynical but I think the shark simply preferred his meal without the surfboard wrapper! There’s another apex predator who loves to tear people apart, “Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” (1 Peter 5:8) He is an unseen enemy but very ravenous – and when he devours someone the bloody carnage is a life that ignores God in every practical way. The Bible may be in the house but it’s not in the mind or heart. The thought of worship attendance is there but rarely does it happen….too many other priorities. Though at times there’s a desire for close Christian friends, they hang out with people who behave like the devil. Try not to be spiritually devoured……if it’s anything like shark week, being devoured is a bloody mess!
BAPTISMS – Sunday
Are you ready for baptism? Baptism is for those who have made a decision to trust Jesus for the forgiveness of their sins. Let me know if you’re thinking about it.
Join myself and Jeff for lunch after the 2nd service on the 8th for lunch and discussion about the church. If you’re new or interested in membership this is the class for you. It’s approximately and hour long and includes lunch and childcare. Email Jeff if you’re planning to join us; jeffsmith@hope-fellowship.net
Men! Start planning ahead for the men’s fishing trip. We’re only going with one boat this year so that means only 20 guys. The trip will take place on June 9th on a charter out of Westport. The cost is $155 and includes the boat, tackle, gear and fishing license. You can register online at our website. You’re guaranteed to come home with some fish or my middle name isn’t Grover.
Bring your favorite brunch dish to pass and your favorite mug for coffee on the morning of April 14th at 9:30. There will be some great sage advice given from some of our most seasoned women on questions every woman has about some basic life issues. I believe this is a “must do” event for every woman.
Are you ready to be a missionary right here in Maple Valley? The Kidz Adventure Camp is the closest you’ll come to real participation in loving people to Jesus. Parents from the surrounding neighborhoods who don’t know Jesus yet enter our facility with their kids and trust us with them. They want their kids to have fun and gain some moral foundation from God. Be a true missionary this summer right here! Contact Lisa to find out how to help;
See you soon!
